Interpretation

Antibodies against lactoferrin can be detected in several chronic inflammatory conditions and is frequently found in ulcerative colitis and primary sclerosing cholangitis but can also be of value in diagnosing autoimmune pancreatitis. Prevalence in chronic inflammatory bowel diseases: Ulcerative colitis 72%, Crohn's disease 3%, healthy individuals <1%.
